1906 Original Vintage French Poster Maurin Quina (Three-Sheet Poster)
Date: 1906 Size: 79 x 150 inches Notes: Oversized, three-sheet, lithograph, linen backed Artist: Cappiello, Leonetto. Maurin Quina is a French aperitif made of cherries, quinine, and bitter almonds. Cappiello was known for using impish imagery in his alcohol ads to allude to the naughty nature of drinking, but this green devil is arguably his most recognized and famous poster. A small version of it can be found on bottles of Maurin Quina, but the version we have is an incredibly rare, three-sheet edition destined for a very tall wall! The poster is from a private collection, has been recently linen backed and is in excellent condition. Leonetto Cappiello is considered to be one of the greatest posterists of his age.

His approach was always image association - the idea that you don't really remember the image of the product itself, but the image of something is associated with the product... Cappiello was the first who thoroughly understood this, and he applied it with considerable diligence in about a thousand posters.
