1940s Alfred + Cecilia Terone Hand-Tinted Airbrush Print Cockatoos & Grapes

A striking image of exotic birds, likely cockatoos, feasting on grapes. Painted in an exuberant, Art Deco style. The husband-and-wife team of Alfred and Cecilia Terone studied art at NYU and then moved to Chicago where they created decorative images for Borin Art Products. They specialized in making airbrushed paintings, which were then reproduced as prints and hand-colored and retouched by the Terones.

On this image you can see raised paint where the Terones added highlights, especially along the edges of the birds' wings and on a few of the leaves. The print does have some condition issues. There are several chips in the finish of the prints, leaving small white occlusions (pictured).

Also, the print was not backed with a hard surface before framing, leading to a light ripple in the paper. This is only noticeable when viewed up close.

The print is in a lovely white, yellow and green frame with floral inlay. It's an excellent match for the image.

There is damage to the lower right hand corner (pictured), but it still makes for a handsome vintage piece. Frame dimensions are approximately 33" x 27".
