Stylish, Colorful Vintage William Hentschel Pochoir, Art Deco Tropic Fish, 1935. It's one of the pochoir prints-stenciled aquatone on paper-for which he is also well known. It's designed in an stylish Art Deco style with numerous bright, colorful tropical fish in blended tones of blues, silvers and grays, with black and green highlights. The design motifs will be recognizable to any Hentschel collector, or anyone familiar with his work. The frame and glass are likely original to the print.
Since I've owned this I've replaced the matte and backings with acid-free materials. The image dimensions (matte) are 14" wide x 14-3/4" high; the frame dimensions are 22" wide x 23-3/4" high x 1 thick. Hentschel 35 within the image at lower left. This is in excellent condition, with very slight darkening of the paper due to its age, and no moisture damage, tears or other problems. The colors are vibrant and unfaded.
The wooden frame is perfectly serviceable, but it's seen better days-scuffs on the surface of the wood and slightly separated corners-an upgrade would help it. Or it's ready to hang as is, if you like the vintage look. This item is in the category "Art\Art Prints". The seller is "esquinazo" and is located in this country: US.
